Influence of climate change on POP dynamics
A ConocoPhillips financed project closely linked to COPOL. Focussing on legacy POPs and the pelagic marine food web - using Kings Bay (Svalbard) as a model fjord, representing a mini climatic scenario.
The present project focuses on the pelagic food web in Kongsfjorden. The main aim is to determine the contaminant profile in Arctic and Atlantic water, and trace the flux through the pelagic food web. The model contaminants are legacy persistent organic pollutants such as PCBs. The project runs in parallel with the Norwegian Research Council funded projects MariClim and COPOL, and is financed by ConocoPhillips.
Ingeborg Gammelsæter Hallanger is a PhD-student on this project in January 2007, being supervised by Dr. Gabrielsen and Dr. Borgå. Hallanger has a background in ecotoxicology from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU)
